Hamilfans got their wish granted today, when Disney announced the cinema release of a filmed performance of the Tony-winning hit musical Hamilton featuring the original Broadway cast. The news might have seemed unusual for a show that is regularly at the top of the grosses chart, but Hamilton seems unbeatable on stage and screen—even at a time of year when most shows' box office calms. This past week was proof, with the juggernaut bringing in a box office gross of $2,676,538.00 and filling the Richard Rodgers Theatre to 101.53% capacity. The filmed version of Hamilton won't hit cinemas until late next year—and we have a feeling despite the show's greater accessibility, audiences will continue to flock to New York to experience its pulse live on Broadway.
Here's a look at who was on top—and who was not—for the week ending February 2.
